Empowering Communities
Transforming lives through vital water, sanitation, and hygiene services in Somalia's most vulnerable regions.
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
In the face of crises that leave vulnerable communities—especially women and children—struggling to survive, Horn Climate Resilience (HCR) recognizes that access to clean water, proper sanitation, and hygiene is essential for sustaining life and dignity. Through our WASH Project, we take decisive action to provide life-saving services while fostering long-term resilience and sustainability.
Key Components of Our WASH Program:
Safe Water: A Lifeline of Hope
HCR understands that clean water is more than a basic need—it is a lifeline for displaced communities. In response to adversity, we establish water points and distribution systems, ensuring everyone has access to safe drinking water. Each drop of water not only nourishes bodies but also restores hope in challenging circumstances.
Sanitation Facilities: A Pillar of Dignity
Adequate sanitation is a fundamental right, even during crises. HCR provides and maintains proper latrines in camps and communities, ensuring hygienic conditions and reducing health risks. These facilities restore dignity to displaced individuals and promote a sense of normalcy.
Hygiene Promotion: Empowering Through Knowledge
HCR believes in the transformative power of education. Alongside our WASH interventions, we conduct community-based hygiene promotion campaigns. Through workshops and educational sessions, we empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to protect their health and well-being.
Capacity Building and Sustainability
Beyond immediate relief, HCR’s WASH initiatives aim to create lasting impact. We focus on building the capacity of local communities to manage and maintain water and sanitation facilities. By equipping them with the necessary skills, we ensure that WASH systems remain operational and sustainable.
Partnerships for Progress
Collaboration is central to HCR’s approach. We partner with local authorities, government agencies, and humanitarian organizations to enhance the reach and effectiveness of our WASH interventions. Together, we create a collective force for positive change.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Ensuring Efficiency and Effectiveness
To ensure the quality and impact of our WASH services, HCR employs rigorous monitoring and evaluation processes. Continuous assessments and feedback from beneficiaries help us refine our interventions to meet the evolving needs of displaced communities.
A Journey of Transformation
HCR’s WASH Project is about more than providing clean water and sanitation—it is a journey of transformation. Through compassion and dedication, we nurture healthier, more resilient communities where access to essential services is a right, not a privilege.
“Access to water, sanitation, and hygiene is foundational to health, dignity, and resilience.”
